Jan 11, 2021 · As soon as it was available I ordered a Magpul American Hunter and put on it. Love it. Mine has an 18” barrel (it’s the Predator) and it’s very accurate. It’s really just a toss up between those two honestly. ETA: in the south a .30-06 or .270 offer no real advantage over the .308. In a Patriot, both chamberings weigh exactly the same and have the same stock. 7.5 pounds. You won't notice the difference. The Axis, an entry level hunting rifle, weighs a tick less at 7.25 pounds. You can really toss a coin and buy either based entirely on price and live happily ever after.

But, never liked rifle manufacturers creating packages with pre-mounted scopes (it's is a big draw for some with Axis II, but resist!). jiggin is livin and welder72.The savage precision comes with a heavy barrel. I don't have any experience with the Ruger but my Savage Axis 2 with the hardwood stock in 22-250 shoots good. I've killed prairie dogs and jackrabbits out to 400 yards with it. My buddy has the one with the synthetic stock in .223 and it shoots good.
