Jul 9, 2017 · 2015 F 350 steering gear box replacement. I have to replace my steering gear box because some jack leg half wit nincompoop didn't properly torque the pitman arm nut. FYI the pitman arm nut is a one time use deal thingy because it has some sort of magical fancy oem thread locker goo on it. The pitman arm wore out the sector shaft.My alternator has almost 200k miles on it and still works great - replaced it at ~220k miles and now at 409k miles. Think the unit was about $190. Don't even try to replace it w/o pulling the driver's side inner fender. You will also need a pitman arm puller... the "arms" on the puller need to be fairly thin so that they fit between the gearbox and pitman arm.
