900 problems. O.K. been riding since 1959 and have had everything going and some no longer going so I know all bikes have their own 'quirks'. I need to downsize from my C-90 at my age (knees are shot, back spasms etc). Really like the looks and feel of the 900. You should find a knurled ring at the base of the choke knob (the holder I guess is the word) which may be covered by a rubber cover. The rockers aren't adjustable, the lash is set by shims and they get tighter over time.Clean the kill switch contacts while you are there. Pull the ignition fuse (number 7). Check for power to the fuse. If have power, clean the fuse spades with the wire brush and reinstall. While the bike is running, check the side stand switch and clutch switch. A little rich is normal on these. They have to be by design. Plug fouling is just part of owning a Vulcan 800, and it's way worse if you make short trips or you're just starting the engine to let it run a little then turning it off. The plugs never get hot enough to burn off the carbon and they just foul. That is normal even on a bone stock VN800.Hello, I just got a 2001 Vulcan 800 which apparently hasn't run since 2009.
